Scooter Donation to Hudson River Housing at Liberty Station, Poughkeepsie NY

We had a great time donating a motorized scooter to a veteran in need at Hudson River Housing. A Vietnam era veteran living at Liberty Station through the Support Services for Veteran Families received this working scooter after we charged and replaced the batteries. The Alliance hopes our assistance will take him far!

The flags are proudly made in the U.S.A., and yellow ribbons will be placed on all flags for donors to write a name or dedication. [...] All Sport has many members and staff who are active or retired military personnel, or have family and close friends who have served or continue to serve our country. PFC Dwyer Program Dutchess County and HVVA host 'Veteran Sportsman Day' at Pleasant Valley Rod and Gun Club, Pleasant Valley NY

This was not a fundraising event. Adventure and fun for all Veterans were had by all, with many of us participating in a 22-rifle competition and skeet shoot. Nothing like an afternoon outdoors with lively people!

Delivery of Oil Tank for Local Veteran in Need, Dover Plains NY

Local Korea Veteran, Joe, needed a new tank for his residence, and the winter was quickly approaching. HVVA mitigated a termination charge and installed a new tank for him. We partnered with local nonprofit ally Hudson Valley Hero Project, who covered the cost of the tank, to go above and beyond for Joe.

Veteran Under Duress, Dutchess County NY

A local veteran's personal possessions were put out on the curb by the Sheriff's department. We all drove to his residence and transported his belongings to a nearby storage center. We decided, because of the sensitive nature of this request for assistance, that it was not appropriate to document our work. All requests are handled with the proper discretion.

We get our hands full and dirty here at HVVA.

Furnace Install for Local Veteran in Need, Red Hook NY

In November of 2016, The Alliance learned of a 75 year old Vietnam era Veteran with a low fixed income whose furnace was beyond repair. We were able to procure him a new furnace at a discounted price, and members of the Alliance installed the furnace for him.

June, 2017

The Alliance helped an Army Veteran in dire need to pack up and move home to his family for emergency medical care. With some of the money raised from Armed Forces Day, we were able to pay off some expenses, get him a Uhaul, and help pack up for the trip home.
